As the beating rhythm behind the Dylan and Faces influenced nucleus of Greg Griffin and Paul Newsome in Manchester band Proud Mary, drummer Paul Fuller certainly knows his way around a tune or two. Fortunately, he was free to pop into the Soul Kitchen and slip a pound into the jukebox to reveal some of his favourites.
1) The Song That Made You Want To Become a Musician
Toots and The Maytals - 54-46 Was My Number
I've recently picked up this reggae compilation and it's not been out of my CD player since. When I come back from touring or just after a night out it's the first thing that I put on. The main song on there is obviously '54-46' by Toots and The Maytals. It's great because you can just sit back and relax to it or you can just as easily get up and move to it. Perfect.
4) Your Guilty Pleasure Song
Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks
This is a hard one. I'm not the type of drummer who's interested in the most technical or intense, in your face beat. In fact, I'm having two choices 'cos they're that good. My first choice is Led Zep's 'When The Levee Breaks'. Nice and simple but you can tell John Bonham means every single beat and it fits the song 100% perfectly. In fact it makes the entire tune.
Song With The Best Drumbeat (2)
Proud Mary's latest album Ocean Park is available now on City of Angels records.

1) The Song That Made You Want To Become a Musician
The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
It's hard to pick just one because I come from a big family of musicians, so there's a lot of influences. But the songs that stick in my head are 'Waterloo Sunset' by The Kinks and, as I'm only 28, 'Wonderwall' by Oasis.
2) The Song That Gets You on The Dancefloor
Elvis Presley - All Shook Up
Whether I'm at a house party or down the pub, the one song that gets me on the dancefloor is 'All Shook Up' by Elvis. Whenever I hear that tune it hits me big time.
3) The Song You're Listening To Most Right Now
I've recently picked up this reggae compilation and it's not been out of my CD player since. When I come back from touring or just after a night out it's the first thing that I put on. The main song on there is obviously '54-46' by Toots and The Maytals. It's great because you can just sit back and relax to it or you can just as easily get up and move to it. Perfect.
4) Your Guilty Pleasure Song
Cliff Richard - Devil Woman
My guilty pleasure is 'Devil Woman' by England's very own King of Rock 'n' Roll, Sir Cliff Richard. Great fucking tune and let's face it, it's what all us men think when we see a woman!
5) Song With The Best Drumbeat (1)
Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks
This is a hard one. I'm not the type of drummer who's interested in the most technical or intense, in your face beat. In fact, I'm having two choices 'cos they're that good. Song With The Best Drumbeat (2)
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever
What an underrated drummer Ringo Starr is! He's the fucking nuts. It really upsets me when people only talk about Keith Moon and John Bonham. Ringo never gets the credit he deserves but this is brilliant.
